My nights are cold and empty
Since the day you left me
Somehow I find solace in my dreams
Where I ride the waves to reach you
But I keep getting washed up on different shores
Sometimes I ask the stars
To come down from their perch
And give you a kiss in your sleep
While the wind sings you
A lullaby outside your window
But the kisses cannot penetrate your deep slumber
So the wind, out of pity, sends me back home
Before the sun can catch me out of bed
“on” not “to”.. never mind..

Nah, not important.. does not detract from anything. Just used to being pedantic and nit-picking..

What a wonderful way to put the emotions in perspective; the day you left, the nights are cold and empty…you keep swimming in the waves of dream and getting swayed away into so many different shores and you look for the anchor to hold on and take a little rest, to get up and fly high and reach at the stars, but never to happen, we keep looking at the sky and we end up empty handed, so beautifully crating of the words and emotions, we all get trapped and look for a way out and never get the direction and become rudderless.
Just loved it…

Wow. And you explained it so profoundly, Nihar. I’m glad that I captured those pictures properly. And yes, at one point in our lives, we find ourselves rudderless. It is not always about love and stuff. Sometimes, we need to struggle against ourselves. Thanks for visiting, Nihar. Have a great week ahead. 🙂

Always my pleasure Mitch reading such profound thoughts so beautifully captured in your posts. I keep cherishing the deeper thoughts so delicate embedded in poetry.
You are right struggle keeps us on the toe and perhaps we learn more in life when we face the struggle and face it with courage and with determination.
Hope you are having a lovely Sunday.

Haunting in an amazing way. With the two opening lines, I immediately imagine the other as a partner, but the word “lullaby” made me think of a lost child. It works both ways, or with anyone we love, the message the same. I especially liked “washed up on different shores,” because we tend to hold onto a single personal image for word “shore” and this reminds me there are many shores out there, yet although looking different, they still are a shore upon which I have been placed and which I must move on from.

I really love your comment! When I first scribbled those lines, I’m thinking of a love lost between two lovers. But what you said about a lost child made me see what I wrote in a different light. You’re right. It can go both ways. Many like that “different shore” bit and I’m glad. Thank you for dropping by. ❤

Very simply.. but quite meaningful. It gives me that feeling of missing someone but at that point you can’t really do anything other than have dreams and heartache just far away…and hope someday it would fade away unless we continue to bask and sway in our world of dismay. Quite nice tho.
Btw..you should check out my post on Dragon’s Loyalty Award.
I just nominated you.

We all have that momement. The best thing to do is to let it flow. It will fade in time. Thank you for sharing your thoughts. 🙂
